Summary

I think this project is really interesting and would have been more enjoyable if the timeframe was longer. I will go back to some of these sites at home and look them over and see what really interests me. I would like to set up some RSS feeds on my home computer and I would like to be able to download e-books.

It was an eye opening experience to see how far the internet has come in such a short time.

Net Library

I created an account in NetLibrary and downloaded "1776". I did not continue with the download because I don't have an MP3 device and I didn't want to load it on the library's computer. I know we are not continuing with NetLibrary next year but I hope we use something equally as impressive.

Useful Search Tools for Locating Podcasts

I used Podcast.net and search for a Podcast on Tennis. I listened to an extremely funny tennis match being broadcast on radio. I cannot get a RSS feed to work.

YOUTUBE

Tried to watch some funny dog clips on this computer but it wanted Flash Player installed and it would not install. I am already aware of youtube and what one can do with the site if the computer cooperates.

web 2.0 award sites

I explored "squido" about home energy costs. and "instant bull" about stocks. Some of the comments on "instant bull" were unrealtistic and I would not depend on what I read about stocks on those sites.

Number 18

i created a Google Doc account and a document. That is a handy tool to write one document and save it in word or publish it or both.

web 2.0

I read a couple of perspectives on the futures of libraries. Libraries should be very central to each community, able to answer all community questions. They could come to the library for information about the schools in the area and sources of help for seniors. One should be able to do all the research they need in the library on the computer.

wikis

I particularly liked the book lovers wikis created by Princeton Univ.
I think it is a great idea for every library to create their own wikis
and start a community blog.

Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati

It is a great site if you were looking for an answer to a specific question. I was reading some of the blogs and learned that some people write in computerese which I couldn't understand. Is there going to be a whole new languare created from blogging?

del.icio.us

The funny thing about this site is the tuturiol would not come up, but I enjoyed exploring the other libraries. I used to be able to get into the libraries in France from "sailor" about 15 years ago. Even though it was in french it was interesting.

rollyo

Went into the rollyo site and did a roll about travel. This site did not interest me.

LibraryThing

I sign in for LibraryThing and submited some of my recent readaing items. When I have more time I want to look at that site closer.

Online Image Generator

Played around with a funny reindeer. Don't have time to sit and play with these things.

Merlin

I explored Merlin and I looked at other news feeds. When I went to set them up It would give me a warning of an unsafe site. I didn't want to put them on the library computer.

Technology

Flicker works great with my laptop and digital camera. I can load my pictures and review what I have and put them in order.

lifelong learning

The reason I am trying to do these 23 things is because I do accept responsibility for my own education and this is a good way to start.

upset lab

When we returned from a recent vacation, we were royally ignored for a couple of days. It seems my hershybear would only come near when there was an offering of treats.

She definitely felt we had no business leaving her with our son and those two basset hounds and she let us know that she had hurt feelings. Fortunately, dogs aren't like elephants with their long memory and in a couple days our relationship was back to normaL.

First Posting

My labrador's favorite toys are soft labrador puppets in chocolate or tan. She uses them as her
companion or her pillow. She never leaves the house without one . The only problem is she never picks them up and brings them in the house. No matter how many treats I offer her she always dumps the dog before getting in the house or she stands over it wagging her tail.

In the evening you can find me searching the 2 acres to find the two puppets.
